Modifying Groups

To alter the details of an existing Linux group, we use the groupmod command. With this command, you can change the group details including the group name, the group ID (GID) and even set a password for the group.

The groupmod command takes the following options:

g- for specifying a new group id (GID).

o- this option helps us assign a duplicate group ID (GID).

p- this option is for setting the group password.
